Audrey Bond, Founder & CEO of the Ottawa-based start-up Vaultt, joined me to share her inspiration behind founding the company. We also discussed how Vaultt is revolutionizing data-sharing in Canada, common biosecurity and data privacy concerns, Audrey’s experience with launching a tech start-up during a global pandemic, and much more.

Q: There’s a huge advantage around the information storage piece of Vaultt. Tell us a little bit about the other piece around the calendar and how calendars can be shared, and why this is an advantage versus other options that are available out there?
A: We built Vaultt to bring features that caregivers need. In addition to the information storage, which for many people, that is the main part of it but we also have other features. We have calendars that can be integrated with your Apple calendar or Google calendar, and we have tasking as well.
A good example, for instance, of how I use tasking is when I need to send my father to the doctor. I can task my brother and my brother can accept the task to take my father to the doctor. All the Information is there, including the address, it brings it up in Google maps or whatever map you have on your phone. He can leave information at the end of that task of what the feedback was and that lives there. It’s hard to remember when you’re going to an appointment, for instance, what did the doctor say. It always lives there.
There is the calendar integration, there’s tasking and there’s also an announcement channel. It’s like Facebook but completely private. I keep on bringing up Facebook and I guess that’s what everybody is familiar with. We use this within our family to share updates because we are all spread around and to share updates on the care of my parents. This is a great way for us to exchange information and doing it in a secure environment.
