In the latest episode of Impetus Digital‘s Fireside Chat, I got to chat with Lynda Brown-Ganzert, Founder & CEO of Curatio. Among many other things, we discussed the concept of social health prescription and the inspiration behind Curatio. We also explored questions such as how AI and “intelligent matchmaking” can be leveraged to scale digital patient support, how the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries can work to improve patient-centricity, and what digital/mobile health technologies will have the biggest impact in the near future.
Below is a short snippet of our thought-provoking chat:
Q: How would you describe what Curatio does to someone who has never heard of your company or “social health prescription” before?
A: When we talk about a social health prescription, our mission is “no patient alone” and to have everyone in the world have this type of social health prescription. Pretty much everyone can relate to this, and I’m sure people on the call will resonate, whether it’s you or a family member or loved one, you have that health crisis, you get that diagnosis, and in a matter of seconds, your entire life changes. You’re not an expert in the area, you’re not sure what to do next, you’re not sure who to talk to, you’re scared, you want information, and you’re likely feeling pretty alone.
The challenge is, you’re not going to necessarily post that on your Facebook, you’re not going to share it on your LinkedIn, and, so, people go underground, and have a really hard time making those connections. The easiest way to think about Curatio is to think of it as a matchmaker. When you get that diagnosis, along with your follow-up appointments, prescription, and what your care plan is, imagine if you also got that buddy system. A buddy system that would not only connect you privately with others; that not only matches your condition, lifestyle, interests, hobbies, and age; but also did some of that really hard lifting around finding evidence-based information, programs that are relevant to you, trackers that help make the day-to-day easier and supporting you at each step of the way, and meeting you, wherever you are in that journey.
You can think of it as if a really intelligent Tinder for health met private Facebook and had the nice personalization recommendations of Netflix, all designed specifically for you as a patient.
