This year, COVID-19 abruptly put a (temporary) stop to our ability to host and attend in-person meetings and events. As a result, there has been a huge surge in virtual events, both synchronous and asynchronous. In the post-COVID world, although it will be tempting to resume in-person activities in the same capacity as before, we need to weigh the pros and cons of virtual vs. in-person vs. hybrid events when deciding on future engagement strategies.
